The 2013 OSCARS Red Carpet Review!

If there is any TV event that I never ever miss it’s the Academy Awards!  It has been this way ever since I was a little.  My favourite cousin ( Alexis) and I would actually make a whole event out of it as we would either watch in my house have loads of popcorn and with our list of predicted winners on hand we would marvel at the glamorous celebrities, handsome actors and really enjoy a fantastic show.   Alexis now lives in New York and he is a film reviewer and is living his dream of being a legitimate film journalist.  In many ways his dream came true and I am extremely proud of his accomplishments.

I simply adore Adele and this Jenny Packham black and fully beaded gown was a real winner! Happy that she redeemed herself after that gauche number in the previous awards show.

This year is the 85th Academy awards and it was truly a show to be missed.  I woke up at 6am and began to enjoy the red carpet proceedings and began to enjoy the biggest fashion show in the world.  Sadly I could not get of work and had to miss the Live show which made me a bit sad but I had a very important shoot that I could not miss.

The work involved in Amanda Seyfriend halter Alexander McQueen gown divine! I loved the play of off whites. She also looks taller in the silhouette.

Amy Adams went full on princess in this classic Oscar dela Renta textured dove grey with a hint of minty blue gown. It was really a statement number! Although it kind a was a bit debut-ish? I still liked it.

Anne Hathaway was rumoured to be wearing Valentino but ended up in a pale pink Prada number whose severe lines was a bit underwhelming. However I liked it and I liked the back action detail. I thought that it was great choice as it was all about her and not just about her gown.

I consider Catherine Zeta-Jones a goddess I mean she looks so toned and fit! Sadly I thought that her gold Zuhair Murad dress was too much gold and seemed too Las Vegas for my taste.

My best dressed for me that evening has got to be Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture! I mean she looked amazing! I loved how modern, sharp, fresh and just amazing she and her dress looked! BRAVO!!!!

Best actor winner Daniel Day Lewis looked dashing in his navy blue tuxedo! I suddenly want one! LOL! His wife Rebecca Miller is so lean and tall that they make such a handsome couple.

I LOVE THIS! Emmanuelle Riva is so chic in her Lanvin ensemble! It was perfection. The colour and the cut was really suited to her.

Chinese Superstar Fan Bing Bing in a great shot of colour. I just think the drape on her bodice was a bit too large that it drowned her frame.

This black gown on Giuliana Rancic was a bit too busy for my taste. A bit of editing would have made this a winner.

Joan Collins would have loved Halle Berry in Atelier Versace! I like the bold choices she makes and this gown really worked on stage.

Helen Hunt looked a bit sad in her custom H&M the fabric wrinkled too much and it looks messy.

My best couple of the evening was Jennifer Garner in a stunning Gucci ruffled back gown with her husband Ben Afleck in hand who cold truly ask for anything more.

My ultimate thinspiration is Jennifer Hudson! I love her in her high shine Roberto Cavalli blue gown which also was a big trend on the Oscars red carpet.

My other favourite was Jennifer Lawrence in Haute Couture Dior! She really looked so amazing and modern! I love how she looks so fresh like a breath of fresh air.

My other best dress was Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani Prive. This colour is so amazing on her skin tone the fit of her gown was so exquisitely perfect that I almost wept! LOL! I also like the homage to Old World Hollywood. The art-deco lines were breathtaking.

Her weight loss is really remarkable and I thought that this gown on Kelly Osbourne seemed to have to many horizontal cuts that sadly does not emphasize this weight loss. I also think that her colour was a bit off and a paler shade would have worked.

Prints are really tricky on the red carpet and this is proven more so when Kelly Ripa sashayed in this hokum number.

LOVE this dramatic gown Kelly Rowland! I love the bodice and the interesting play of lines A beautiful creation by Dona Karan Atelier

This color is so wonderful on Kerry Washington by Miu Miu. It also lengthens her petite frame.

Was she high that night? I mean Kristin Stewart looked stoned! Sadly she did such an injustice of this Reem Acra gown. Le sigh!

I love how Kristin Chenoweth who is so tiny looks so statuesque in Tony Ward. It's a study on how good design and a bit of a top knot makes anyone a few inches taller.

Maria Menounos in a super hot color! Big hair was also a big trend that night!

I want to one day dress Melissa McCarthy up so that she does not end up in disasters such as this! I am certain that she had other choices than this dead grey number. This literally reminded me of a sack of potatoes!

Nancy O'Dell looks like a beauty pageant contestant in this monochromatic blue dress! The fit was great however I think she must be styled by Ms. USA! LOL!

I love how modern Naomi Watts looked Armani Prive. I lined the neckline and the pewter colour with that deep shine looks great on her!

Nicole Kidman wearin L'Wren Scott she looked lovely but I thought that the shine was a tad too much! Someone should tell Keith Urban that those high lights are so 1987. LOL!

I really like how Octavia Spencer celebrates her curves in his Tadashi Shoji. The vanilla colour is quite lovely and that neckline was just soft and smart.

What a great colour on Olivia Munn in Marchesa. I would have removed a few yards from the hip drape to make it a bit more slimming.

In the trend of the evening Queen Latifah in a white Badgley Mischka gown. A paradigm shift of how one should not be afraid to wear white when your a curvy lady.

Little Ms. Quvenzhane Wallas- was too cute in this Giorgio Armani I loved how cute her puppy purse was and that she remained true to her age. Check out the blue trend once more!

Best hair apparently went to Ms.Reese Witherspoon in a blue (once more) Louis Vuitton. the cut on the waist makes her look thinner.

In a train that is too long! I did not like this gown on Sally Field at all! I would have edited this Valentino skirt and removed 5 yards and all the ruffles.

I thought that Salma Hayek looked uncomfortable in her Alexander McQueen gown. I think it would have been better with 3 inches off the neckline.

Hight detail and yet it still looked simple. Sandra Bullock rocked this Elie Saab full lace gown.

George Clooney is so wonderful that he is my personal style icon. I found his girlfriend Stacey Keibler's evening gown absolutely stunning! Great job Mr. Naeem Khan!

I would have loved Zoe Saldana minus the belt and the bow. I still think that this Alexis Mabille is really still beautiful though.

The great thing was that I was able to catch a bit of the prime time show and was able to watch more than half of the show.  Seeing Dame Shirley Bassey gave me the chills as she is such a performer!  This years show was absolutely great to watch specially the tribute to James Bond and the Les Miserables number.  Being a fan of Barbra Streisand I was so moved when she sang for her dear departed friend Marvin Hamlisch.   Overall The show really fabulous and the red carpet action had more than it’s share of winners!  The big trend this year was WHITE!  There was several gowns in white!  Well!  Enough chatter and find out my peanut gallery thoughts for this years OSCARS red carpet show!  Enjoy!

HUGS,

RAJO!

Anne Hathaway’s gown looked simple but the way she carried it was fierce. Rumors has it that she had to change her gown 3 hours before the red carpet because of Amanda Syfreid’s gown (http://i.perezhilton.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/anne-hathaway-valentino-oscar-gown-apology__oPt.jpg). It was too similar by fabric and she didnt wanna clash with her or something.

Great choices this year and review. I would have said the same thing. I super enjoy your red carpet reviews. Now that the Oscars is done, it will take a while probably for you to have another red carpet review :(

    hugs from Seattle!
