What to Do and See in BA!

Even if I have been to Buenos Aires twice already there are still so many things to see and experience.  I had such an amazing time the first time that I visited that I could not wait to see it all over again. My gang and I had pretty much a full day that began with a beautiful breakfast at the hotel.  The Malabia hotel breakfast spread is filled with beautiful breads, fruit and any kind of egg dish you can think of.  It really is one of the best deals ever.

Breakfast of champions!

We then moved on the the La Boca area which is one of the most colourful places in BA.  What began as a poor port town has evolved into a major tourist attraction.  I loved the energy of the place with all it’s colourful homes and street cafe’s.  What was really inspiring was the quality and quantity of street art that was so evident in the area.

This is a landmark on Buenos Aires. I use it to find my bearing.

NIx and I with our very special tour guide. Tita Chita Wilcox.

The colours of La Boca.

Street art.

The colours of the walls were from remnants of the paint from the ports.

Great visual inspirations.

Lots of great street bas relief art all over the walls.

Our gang in the hood.

This corner is a landmark.

Spotted a LAVANDERA. LOL!

My nose led me to this!

When in BA don't fail to come here.

Lots of things to see.

We then moved on towards the city to visit the famous Casa Rosada.  This is where Eva Peron gave her historical speech that cemented her as one of the most important person in Argentine history.  We all could not belt out “Don’t cry for me Argentina” from the top of our lungs while we were there.  Gosh!  We are really a sad cliche’!  LOL!  We then walked up to this beautiful restaurant called Cafe Tortoni  http://www.cafetortoni.com.ar/index_ingles.html  This beautiful coffee shop is one of the oldest in the country and home to so many intellectuals. artist’s poets, optician and what have you.  You literally could feel like the walls could tell you stories on Argentine history.  I for one was so moved to see so many beautiful painting on the walls!  I encourage you to book a table in advance less you fall in line and wait for a good half an hour to get a table.  The food is not that great but you come here to soak in the ambience and to really look at history from a diner’s perspective.

We then visited Casa Rosada.

All together now?! Don't cry for me Argentina!

BA is truly the Paris of South America.

Nix's summer South American look.

Inspiration is really everywhere.

There were a lot of these "flea stalls" all over the city.

We booked a table for lunch here.

Our table was in the the back in front of the private dining area which looked like a library. I really enjoyed the place and my imagination literally went wild with what could have been discussed at the very table we were eating Lunch on.  So when in Buenos Aires.  Check out La Boca, Casa Rosada and eat lunch at Cafe Tortoni.  Remember that.

It is truly a historical place. One of the oldest restaurants in the city.

The immersive interiors.

If only these walls could talk?

Cafe Tortoni was the place where the movers and shakers of Argentina would convene.

I loved this painting.

The lunch crew.

I loved our corner table.

Even the china has branding.

LUNCH. Don't expect much. You come here for the ambience.

It was one of those cloudless days.

HI Tracy! How are you? Thank you for dropping by my blog! I appreciate the comment! I have never been to CUBA but I am certain it’s very beautiful. From the photos though CUBA looks so much like the Philippines. Take care and hope to see you around.
