The last time I was in Phuket was a few months after the huge Tsunami. We did not stay very long as we were on a Crew ship and we only docked for what seemed like a few hours. Back then they were like starting from a clean slate. The amount of destruction was unfathomable. So I was curious to come back to Phuket and see what it’s like. We are here for a friends wedding and decided to take the weekend off. We had accumulated some miles from PAL so Nix and I decided to use that. Sadly PAL was late so we missed our connecting flight. There was really no use to get stressed about it as these things do happen so I comforted myself in enjoying the most beautiful bowl of Lugao in the Philippines! I dare say that the PAL lounge does have the best Congee in the land. Happily I had 2 servings and tried to do as much work as possible.
7 hours later we landed in BKK, we then had to wait another 5 hours to connect to Phuket. Again Nix and I used as much of our good vibes as possible and had a fabulous foot massage in the airport and then had some Thai food. Good thing there was decent food in the airport. I can only imagine my sadness if there was none. The upside with all these delays was that Nix and I ended up arriving at the same time with our friends flying in from Sydney. We were so happy to find them in the airport and happily we got a van and headed directly to our hotel.
We stayed at the KEE hotel which was right in the centre of the action in Patong! http://www.thekeeresort.com When I say action I mean ACTION!!! Ping-Pong and all that jazz! Truth be told it was a bit much to take! I mean if I were in my 20′s this would be where I would be! We did try our very best as we ended up in a Irish Pub in the middle of Thailand with a Filipino band singing to a primarily Australian audience! LOL! At that point we all called it a night and decided to rest.
The next day we were famished and desired for some good Thai sea food! Good thing our hotel was so central everything was like 100 paces away. Me and my friends had such a feast enjoying the beautiful and fresh sea food that still makes my mouth water when I see the photos. We then had a Thai massage and had a drink on top of our hotel which had the most amazing views of the cove. After which we all decided to just hang out in our room and catch up. Because we all live far from each other there were lots of stories to share. We were actually so happy to be able to do this trip as our next one will be all the way in Brazil for New Years Eve! How fun will that be? Till then take a look at our first few hours in Phuket.
HUGS,
RAJO!
